View, visit and visitor count in SWOOP Analytics for SharePoint intranet

We’re making changes to the way intranet view, visit and visitor counts are reported to make numbers consistent across all reports in SWOOP Analytics for SharePoint intranet.

This update is the first step in addressing feedback from customers who have suggested we filter data by content type. For example, if you are interested in how news articles are performing, you can choose to exclude content pages and files from the SWOOP Analytics reports.

We’re working hard to enable this filtering of data across all SWOOP Analytics for SharePoint intranet reports. However, to do so, we first need to ensure ALL traffic across news articles, content pages and files is included everywhere. Before we made this change, view, visit and visitor counts could appear inconsistent because it wasn’t obvious when file views were included or excluded. (There was initially a method to the madness, but it’s become clear to us that it had become too hard to explain!)

What impact will this change have?

This update means the count of views, visits and visitors in some SWOOP Analytics for SharePoint intranet reports will increase. In some reports, file views were already included, and for these, there will be no change. What you will notice is that the count of views, visits and visitors will be similar across reports for the same site or content.

When will this come into effect?

This update starts rolling out on May 9, 2024 and will be completed across all reports by October 13. 2024.
