Can Artificial Intelligence Help Us Tell Fact From Fiction?
It sounds paradoxical: can something artificial help us understand what's real and what isn't? Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are pinning their hopes on this possibility in their fight against "fake news”.
How AI's Answer to Cyberbullying Can Help in the Workplace
Just as social media platforms use artificial intelligence to flag bullying, businesses can use AI to analyze discussions and improve negotiating tactics.
When Artificial Intelligence Sentiment Analysis Meets Yammer
Microsoft is undoubtedly the leader in office productivity software, with generations having now grown up using its Office products suite. Less heralded in the productivity space, however, are the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities Microsoft has developed over a similar time frame.Much of the AI found in the Office suite is hidden or embedded in functions like the spelling and grammar checker in MS Word. Other AI applications are more explicit, such as Cortana, which can, among other things, remind us of commitments we may have made but overlooked. Microsoft is making much of this AI capability available to development partners with API connections through its Cognitive Services unit. While it is still early days, we have observed some active piloted integrations with selected Microsoft products like Dynamics 365.
When Artificial Intelligence Sentiment Analysis Meets Yammer
Bringing some of Microsoft's artificial intelligence capabilities to bear on collaboration tools opens up a new realm of productivity.
What does AI have to say about the Trump vs Turnbull Leak?
Our weekend papers were filled with transcripts of the ‘robust’ conversation had between President Trump and Australian Prime Minister Turnbull on the issue of refugees. Some commentators were concerned about how ‘leaky’ the Trump administration had become. Others welcomed the transparency afforded by the transcripts, allowing the public to see beneath the public personas that many leaders are adept at maintaining. One thing is clear however, increased digitisation is providing us with at least the technical capability to track virtually everything anyone says to each other over digital channels. Stopping the leaks through purely governance mechanisms alone is like pushing the proverbial uphill. In the end we can only rely on developing the appropriate cultural and behavioural ethical norms.
A Test: Which Vendor Wins at Sentiment Analysis?
Natural language processing and sentiment analysis have been popular artificial intelligence (AI) research topics for decades now. In today's intelligent digital workplaces, however, we are becoming entranced by the potential of AI chatbots and the use of AI to actively participate in human led conversations.
What can we Learn from Artificial Intelligence?
This might seem strange, suggesting that a science dedicated to learning from how we humans operate, could actually return the favour by teaching us about ourselves? As strange as this may sound, this is precisely what I am suggesting.
Can You Squeeze Real Value from Artificial Intelligence?
It’s 1985 and I’m at UCLA, attending my very first International Joint Conference on artificial intelligence. As a young researcher tasked with pioneering AI in my corporate research lab, this is an exciting opportunity. We are at the very peak of the AI hype curve.
